
Sumi-e Midwest was pleased to host Professor Dongfeng Li, an accomplished Sumi-e and watercolor artist, for a two-day workshop March 9–10, 2023.
DONGFENG LI was born and raised in China and studied at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. He came to the United States in 1992 and subsequently received a Master of Art Education from the University of South Alabama and a Master of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University.
His Chinese brush paintings and watercolors have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including the annual international shows of the Sumi-E Society of America, American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America and more than twenty states’ watercolor societies in the United States. He is the signature member for American Watercolor Society, a Dolphin Fellowship Member which is the top honor in AWS membership and a member of the National Watercolor Society.
His watercolor paintings have appeared many times in Watercolor Artist Magazine including the Winter 2022 issue. He currently teaches drawing, painting, and watercolor at Morehead State University in Morehead Kentucky.
