who has been awarded the Award of Excellence for Wings of Hope Bear Seeds of World Peace Invitational, AnShan City Cultural Center, ICCPS, International Chinese Calligraphic Art and Ink Painting Society, AnShan City, China. 



Monica Cardestam,  Jan Keller Schultz, Kay Thomas, and Linda Tomchuck, who had paintings accepted for 2017 publication in the art and literary journal “East on Central,” a Highland Park organization that publishes an annual art and literary journal and organizes community events to support the arts.


Midwest Sumi-e is very proud to announce that four of its members had paintings accepted into the 54th Annual Juried Exhibition of the Sumi-e Society of America.

  • Reggie Siske and Kay Thomas has paintings on display at the Beginnings exhibit at the Wilmette Public Library, December 15 through February 5.



Kay Thomas was one of the exhibiting artists at the Artist on the Bluff exhibit November 10 through December 2 at the Artist on the Bluff Gallery in Lake Forest. 

Paintings by Gloria Bradle, Monica Cardestan, Connie Hamilton, Steve Grant, Ileane Tatar, Kay Thomas, and Linda Tomchuck were featured at the Heller Nature Center exhibition, A Brush with Nature, September 16 through the month of October. .

Monica Cardestam, Jan Schultz, Kay Thomas, and Linda Tomchuck had paintings accepted into East on Central, Highland Park’s literary and art journal. 

Monica Cardestam, Jan Schultz, Ileane Tatar, and Kay Thomas each  had paintings accepted into the Summer 2017 Art in City Hall Show in Highland Park. Exhibition dates were June 1 to September 1.

Kay Thomas had several paintings in the Celebration of Summer Show at The Gallery in Lake Forest.

Monica Cardestam, Jan Schultz, and Kay Thomas  had paintings on display at the Art Post Gallery’s “Art by the Inch” show which ran through May 28. 

Kay Thomas had an exhibit at the Book Market, Glenview, January 9– April 3.

Maxine Gladstone had a one-person show in January at Dickinson Hall, Lake Forest.

Jan Schultz has had a painting selected to be exhibited in the Juried Art Show, Art is Alive in Highland Park. 

Kay Thomas, Monica Cardestam and Jan Schultz had paintings at the Fall Art in City Hall show in Highland Park. The exhibit ran through the first week in January.
